Chiropractic can play a role in addressing Canada’s rising opioid crisis. In this first CCA Master Class session of 2023, we worked with the Ontario Chiropractic Association (OCA) to present its proven approach to help chiropractors coordinate care plans with prescribing professionals to manage a shared patient’s MSK pain and reduce their need for opioids. Hear from fellow DC, Dr. Amy Brown, and nurse practitioner (NP), Kristy Naulls, as they demonstrate the end-to-end process from patient assessment to outcomes using a case study example.

  • Learn about the proven value of collaborative care in managing patients with MSK conditions, who want to manage, reduce, or eliminate their opioid dependency.
  • Learn how to confidently coordinate a plan of care with prescribing professionals to collaboratively help patients effectively manage their MSK pain and reduce their reliance on opioids/other medications.
  • Learn about the OCA’s Opioid and Pain Reduction Collaborative and its practical tools to support these collaborations, such as the CEP-developed clinical tool and the CMCC and OCA-produced virtual CE course.
