Chiropractic management of lumbar spinal epidural lipomatosis in a U.S. Veterans Affairs clinic: a report of two cases

This case series surrounding two patients is one of very few that detail the impact that spinal epidural lipomatosis can have on influencing chiropractic care and prognosis. We describe one patient with moderate grade central canal stenosis due to epidural lipomatosis that receives good transient benefit for weeks duration with chiropractic care to help manage his chronic low back pain. We also detail a second patient with severe central canal stenosis that was unable to find durable benefit. The paper also discusses additional factors for consideration of managing patients with known spinal epidural lipomatosis such as weight loss.
