Patients presenting for chiropractic treatment with comorbid mental health concerns often do not improve as expected. While the mental health concerns may or may not be immediately apparent, the earlier these are detected and treated, the better are the prognoses for pain reduction. This Master Class session, presented via an interactive dialogue between a Chiropractor and a Registered Psychotherapist, explores the interconnection between mental health concerns and chronic pain with an aim to provide attendees with a lens on which mental health conditions may exacerbate chronic pain, along with treatment options that may reduce pain and improve outcomes for patients.
- To discuss and explore the role of the chiropractor in the identification and management of mental health comorbidities in patients with persistent pain
- To explore mental health treatment options for patients with persistent pain
- To define and describe psychologically-informed care
